Saint - Sfven

We say

Sfven is an artist who has impressed us with his honest and heartfelt bedroom pop, and it’s no surprise that the Leeds-based producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and singer has done it again with this boppy and feelgood ode. Having gained some serious tastemaker support for his EP, Like I Love You, across streaming services (Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, & Deezer), as well as radio plays from the likes of Radio 1 (Annie Mac, Jack Saunders, Huw Stephens), 1Xtra (Jamz Supernova) and Radio X (John Kennedy), Sfven is back today (29 May) with his first single from his forthcoming The Honey EP. With its quirky and buoyant alt-pop tones, nestled between lush production and warm vocals, it quickly found its way onto new release programming at Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and Deezer, and something tells us it won’t be too long either before it hits the radio airwaves too. Just glorious.

Want You - Global Network

We say

After a long relaxing bank holiday weekend, let us ease you into the new normal working week with this smooth R&B pop banger from Parisian duo Global Network. Loris Sasso and Nils Peschanski grew up in the suburbs of Paris and as bored teens experimented and developed their own forms of expression, drawing on the sounds of Erykah Badu, Frank Ocean, Jamie XX and Radiohead. Last year they took their music to festivals across France (Pete The Monkey, Cabourg Mon Amour, Qui Va Piano Va Sano) along with support slots for !!!, Vendredi Sur Mer, Thylacine, Isaac Delusion, and played small shows across Europe from the UK to Slovenia. Having built a growing fanbase, they dropped their debut single Rampage and follow up Your Love in March and April respectively this year, and have now released their debut EP Cool Moments last Friday (22 May). With echoes of Justin Timberlake meets French touch music, Want You is the gorgeous lead track and delivers a sweet blast of sophisticated euphoric pop, which in times like these is most welcomed. They were due to play the Great Escape and Printemps de Bourges (France) festivals, along with another twenty planned dates before the pandemic happened, which shows that this emerging act from the suburbs of Paris are one to keep an eye on.

Empty Love (ft. Ruel) - GRACEY

We say

Currently climbing the official charts and on the A Lists at both Radio 1 and Capital with her collaboration with 220Kid, 22 year old in-demand songwriter and artist GRACEY is back today (22 May) with this honest blast of jagged pop goodness. Having written hits for the likes of Sub Focus, MJ Cole, and RAYE after being recruited as a top-liner for Xenomania at the age of 16 and then signing to Universal, the London-based artist released her debut EP, Imposter Syndrome, to critical acclaim last year with the likes of The Line Of Best Fit, i-D, Wonderland, The Guardian and Sunday Times Culture singing her praises. Featuring on numerous new release playlists across Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer, Empty Love featuring Australian pop-prodigy Ruel is a stonking straight-up pop anthem that doesn’t pack any punches when talking about the pressures that come with social media. Accompanied by a powerful video (goes live here at 11.30am) created by GRACEY along with creatives, Aidan Zamiri (Object & Animal) and Dan Moller (Facebook Creative shop), expect to see this track and video build up some serious momentum across streaming, socials and online over the next couple of weeks.

Play - Callum Beattie

We say

Currently on the C list at BBC Radio 2 with this irresistible dance-rock anthem (his fifth Radio 2 playlist track), Callum Beattie released his long-awaited debut album People Like Us last Friday (15 May). As regular readers will know, we have been big fans of the Scottish singer-songwriter’s guitar-driven pop anthems over the years, and with fifteen tracks making up the album, including RotD’s We Are Stars, Ghosts In The Dark and now Play, it makes for a gorgeous listen. Entirely self-written and charting his tumultuous and joyous personal journey so far, the album provides a diverse soundscape all pinned together by his strikingly rich vocal. Inspired by Berlin’s legendary club culture and unrequited love, Play’s upbeat sound was produced by David Jürgens at Funk Haus studio in the German capital and features on editorial playlists at both Spotify and Apple Music. Further tastemaker support for Callum has come from Clash, Telegraph, Evening Standard, TMRW magazine and numerous of online blogs. If you haven’t yet taken the time out to listen to the album, we highly recommend you do and bask in its glorious storytelling and moving nature.
